There used to be a test that was used to determine if cleaners were doing an effective job and keeping a home clean. It was called the “White Glove Test” and it was highly effective at exposing lazy or careless cleaners.
The way it worked was this: The homeowner would put on a single white cotton glove and then go to an out of the way area — such as the top of a curtain rod or the middle shelf of a table — and run their finger along the surface. If the pad of the glove showed any kind of dirt or dust, the cleaners failed the test.
Testing Your Home
The purpose of the test was to keep cleaners on their toes. It encouraged them to pay attention to every area of the home, even surfaces that aren’t in the immediate line of sight.
While the test may seem harsh, it was very good at encouraging maids and other cleaners to pay attention to detail when cleaning a home. But it has gone out of style in recent years, maybe because people don’t usually have white cotton gloves lying around the house anymore.
Carvalho’s Cleaning
At Carvalho’s Cleaning, we say, “Let’s bring back the white glove test!” That’s because we are confident our teams of experienced, professional cleaners would pass the test every time.
When we clean your home, we attack every surface with the same intensity to ensure your entire house is clean from top to bottom. We don’t just clean the surfaces you can see. We also thoroughly clean underneath, above, and other out of the way spaces so you can be confident your home is always in the cleanest, healthiest condition.
Most cleaning companies hate the white glove test because they know they probably aren’t going to pass it. But at Carvalho’s Cleaning, we say, “Bring it on!”
